About SourceFreedom.com
“Free like ‘Freedom of Speech’”
We believe code should be free and that you should be able to change and modify any code in any application you have licence to.
We also believe in Commerce, however we are starting to doubt the central tenet of Capitalism, which is the system that brought us widespread economic collapse internationally.
So we are organised as a Cooperative.
Wait a minute! is this a non-profit?
Answer – It is not currently a non-profit. The benefits of tax-exemption are not enough to counter-weigh the paperwork involved. We are currently a sole proprietorship aiming for incorporation by the end of 2009.

What is a Cooperative?
- A cooperative, or Co-op, is a special form of business that is owned and managed by the people who provide and/or use goods and services. Resources are pooled to satisfy a common goal as economically and efficiently as possible.
- As a locally-owned business, co-ops are committed to the people and the communities they serve. Member/Owners have a voice in what is available for purchase, as well as in the overall organization of their particular co-op. Member/Owners get the most buying power for their money, and the money stays in the community, contributing to its economic strength.
- Member/Owners literally own the store, so membership benefits are much more than just the discount!

Co-op Principles
- Voluntary/open membership
Anybody can contract the services of SourceFreedom.com, but Members get a 10% discount on SourceFreedom.com services. Contributing Members get a 20% discount. - Democratic Member Control
Members will vote annually, starting upon the date of incorporation, for the membership of the Board of Directors, and will also have access to suggest innovations and new options. - Member Economic participation
Members with Full Shares will receive an equal part of the annual profit of the organization - Autonomy and Independence
Because we are not a traditional stockholder-owned company, there is no way for any individual or entity to “gain controlling interest” in SourceFreedom.com. Board members must be Full Members, but they are not given any financial consideration beyond that given any Full Member. - Training, Education and Information
Our focus is on open-source software, so the idea of giving away information is primary in our work. We are contributors to several Open-Source Projects and produce only Open-Source applications. - Cooperation Among Cooperatives
We actively seek to help other Co-ops develop and graciously accept assistance from other Co-operative ventures. - Community Focus
We are a local Atlanta Area Organization and we are concerned with the betterment of our local community.
